018: H.P. Lovecraft

Shows October 27th, 2007

In this episode, Michelle gives her Lovecraft presentation, originally presented at Dragon*Con 2007. Rather than simply explore the mythos, Michelle delves into the man behind the mythos, telling us of his childhood, development, and environment when he was writing his tales.

The excellent music in this episode provided by Nox Arcana, from their Necronomicon album. (And it’s a damn fine one, if we do say so ourselves.)

Enjoyed the show as always. Just thought I’d share a comic I made based on The Shadow Over Innsmouth: http://www.comicspace.com/sleepman/comics.php?action=gallery&comic_id=8981

Interesting about the lack of sex in his stories…if I can call your attention to the stained glass on page 14…

I have to agree with you about his writing style. Love his monsters and elder gods, but the stories themselves I can go either way on. Have yet to read any of the mythos by other authors. The King in Yellow has been sitting on my computer for some months. Will get around to reading it one of these days.

I missed this panel at Dragon*Con. Thx so much for sharing your info here, Michelle! :)
