    rock and roll

    the hair dresser

  2. MarkL Says:

During the show you mentioned another show you recorded about your
magickal mistakes that you decided not to air. This kind of info
from knowledgeable practitioners is an invaluble resourse for us
less experienced folks. Please, could you see your way to making it available, maybe with the names and places bleeped out? We could
    learn a lot from it.

  3. Ora Says:

Actually, we love to hear you two “blab.” Don’t either of you have friends you like to listen to because even their blabbing is quality intellectual discourse (with a smattering of bizarre references that you get)?

Two things that you always have to keep in mind for a quality podcast:
    - Have something mildly informative.
    - Have fun.

Either of these can take precedence over the other as long as both are present.

  4. Ora Says:

    As for future topics:

    - Chaos Magick: Michelle has some knowledge on this yes? If not, perhaps either of you might know someone to bring in? A Grant Morrison interview perhaps??

    - Ghosts and Ghost Hunting: Mentioned numerous times including Michelle’s job at the hotel, but I’m not sure if there’s been a full show dedicated to it and the field of studying/hunting ghosts. Remember Unsolved Mysteries, MTV’s Fear, Most Haunted, and Ghost Hunters (T.A.P.S.)?

    - Mystic Experience as Proof: It was mentioned in this episode how you have to really experience some things to believe in them. Perhaps that could be expanded into an episode. This one could reach deep into philosophy… What is real? Hyperreality, Matrix, Baudrillard? How can you scientifically verify something that doesn’t fit that reality paradigm? Dare I say quantum physics…? This could get messy, hehe.

  5. Strigidae Says:

    Show Ideas fun times!

-Learn from your mistakes: You don’t have to go into detail about the mistakes you have made, just give a general idea. Also listeners can send short blurbs about mistakes they have made in either ritual or Vamp/Donor relationship

-Tolerance II: There is still distrust in the Communities from Occult/Metaphysical/Earthy Pagan and the Afro-Carribean religion, aka Vodoun/Santeria/Lukumi. How the two can see the merit and most importantly get over the hysteria and distrust.

I have to say your ‘blathering’ makes great background noise for writing while educating at the same time.

  6. John Says:

I agree with Mark. Many people make a great many mistakes and errors when dealing with vast areas of the occult. I have heard of newbies doing things that ended in disaster because of their “mistakes.” It would be quite informative to here the errors of somebody more experianced and an authority on the subject.

  7. Erik Warming Says:

This was the most messed up show you have ever made… and still I LOVED IT!
I have followed the show since the first and in some way i look at Chris and Michelle like some of my US friends. I realy enjoy you blathering to.
    ——-
The public demands! No the public plead fore the magic-mistake show. Fuck-ups make us human, we learn from mistakes, and since we cant get to make all the mistakes in 1 lifetime (go karma!) we would love to hear others mistakes.
I don’t see the problem, if you clearly states that this was bad calls and shoud not be tryed at all.

    Yours
    Erik

you know, we do just like hearing you talk… it cracked me up

  9. Chris A. Says:

Loved this show! all the episodes are great, especially the ramble-y ones. Also v. glad about the (at least potentially) more frequent updates now that y’all have a meet-up spot.

We want the mishaps show! It would be interesting, and informative!

Also, as it seems there have been a couple of other folks tossing out ideas for future shows…

One on sex and sexuality, and how/if it influences/changes magic/energy workings, and how it’s treated in the various communities.

a more left-hand vs. right hand sort of episode would be interesting, too…

  10. RBasler Says:

Hey Chris, if you are coming to L.A. and are going to be in the vicinity of West Hollywood, you absolutely must drop in on the Bodhi Tree bookstore. It is at 8585 Melrose Avenue, about 3 blocks west of La Cienega. Go in the late afternoon, early enough to check out the used bookstore annex. The main store has an amazingly broad selection of books - I think you would be quite pleased. Drop me an email when you know when you’ll be in town.
    Enjoy the stay!

  11. ZeevMichael Says:

On the subject of the origin of xmas trees:

See Jeremiah 10:2-4 in Tanakh. Might be far earlier than old Germany, but the Pagans and the Jews knew that…

    ;-)

  12. Alieah Says:

Christmas trees became widely used in Britain in the 1800s because of Prince Albert, so yeah, Chris, you were right about that one. But obviously the tradition had to come from somewhere, and I don’t know where.

By the way - great job on all your podcasts, guys, I love listening to you. Very interesting, intelligent, insightful - even when you’re wittering! I wish I had people like you to talk to!

  13. Traeonna Says:

I had to giggle a bit when I realized that the guy from Toledo that was mentioned during the show was probably someone I knew of and was aware of the situation at the time when this person traveled to the Cleveland area to “infiltrate” or whatever. I vaguely remember various acquaintances talk about this fellow and I think the time frame is about right (but my memory is horribly flawed). It was just strange hearing from the other side some confirmation that all the rumours here weren’t simply that. Ahhhh, the good ol’ days…a bit of a blast from the past. Great show.
