Shows July 3rd, 2008

Because we’ve had some requests for more information on Chris, Michelle sat down and interviewed him over coffee one night not so long ago.

Thanks for clearing up about the use of the tarot major arcana for creating a world. I tend to flick through them a lot to find the card that will be the focus of the reading and I find that the flicking gives me head aches and puts me in to a state of vampuric need, even though I’m not a vampire. I find I can use them to “project” to other worlds and this requires alot of energy but most people think this is nuts. I have never put moon energy in to it though. never thought of that. Is that what you mean?

I love listening to your show guys. I’ve been a bit depressed recently cos I’ve been so isolated from occultists and I’ve been off sick without any energy workers to try to heal me, but listening to you guys really brightens up by day.

  2. Chris Says:

    Lunar energy, yep. Specifically moonbeams.

    Hi Chris and Michelle,

First, I want to say that listening to Shadowdance has been such a pleasure for me. You guys have kick-started me down my path in a powerful way. I’m a recent member of Kheperu and incorporate your ideas on energy into my current practice for example, even though I’m not a vampire.

I’m also a new member of ADF and am very focused on completing the DP. Maybe it’s because of that, but this podcast really left me wanting more. Chris:
Who are the gods that you heard?
Is the Morrigan your only Matron?
What other issues do you have with the liturgy or symbologies of ADF?
    What’s your hearth culture?
How did you discover the gods of the land where you live? What are some examples of the UPG you experienced in an ADF ritual?
    What about offerings and sacrifices?
If you heard the Morrigan, why do you not believe in gods? If you are in a grove or SIGs, which one(s)?

I can understand that the hard polytheism of ADF doesn’t usually provide a lot of “There is no way I am not right about what I feel” moments, and I know that magic has not been good to you in at least one big way. But I did expect to here more about your experiences as a Druid. As a solitary ADF member with no realworld access to other Neopagans, you can understand my desire to know!

Let me know the answers if you have the time. I really appreciate all the work you guys put into this podcast.

    Thanks,

    Fire is Born

You know you’re enjoying a Podcast when an hour goes by and feels like it’s only been minutes. Curiouser and curiouser.
Thanks for giving us a bit of insight into your world, Chris.
    Great show as always, guys.

Very nice to hear more about Chris. Ah Hellblazer (a pox on the Hollywood ‘tard that decided Reeves would be a good Constantine) and a short aside for Gaiman whose mythologies have always resonated with me. I hadn’t heard the term “probability hacking” before, but I have always considered magick to a degree “probability engineering.”

Definitely going to answer your questions. Give me a day or two.

  8. Kehlo Says:

Chris, I was just wondering if you might know of any way to find druid groups in western mass. I seem to be in a bit of a rut…

    I love your show!

One comment, you mentioned a follower of Kali and laughed at him. I wish you would spend some time to learn more about Kali’s role in the universe. She is one form of Durga and Bhavani. They represent the female aspects of Shiva and Natraj. As such, they are both symbols of peace, battle and rage. Just as you are a father, a programmer, and a slayer (meat eater or insect killer among other things), so is Durga, Bhavani and Kali.

It is sad that everyone focuses on the destruction that Kali created rather than the reasons why she had to.

Thank you for this episode; it was both cool and gave a deeper perspective into you, Chris. I found myself at points nodding as I listened to you, from the comment on D&D leading to magick (for me it helped with being more open to magick), to you researching mythology in 5th grade (for me I was reading on shamanism and Native American stories even at 1st grade), to turning your magick/energy/etc. as soon as you grasped it to helping others.

A good episode; thanks for posting!

  13. fire_is_born Says:

Thanks Chris, I appreciate it very much. I’ll be waiting for those answers!

  14. Christine Says:

I love the concept of “Zen Druidism”! I was left a bit confused about the statement of “not believing in the gods” followed by claiming to have Morrigan as your personal deity. Is there a show in the offing that could focus on personal deities in general? I think I’d like to have a listen to that. Thanks, ~C.

  15. Christine Says:

Oh! Wait! Let me check episode 007 before you answer that one. Thanks! ~C.
