For me that symbol is a crow.  I could not tell you exactly why, but i am drawn to them
strongly.

I too recently have been drawn to ravens in most kinds.

in terms of symbols, I have always loved the 5 pointed star even before I learned its symbology to both sides of the occult(may be using that term incorrectly), which I still have this unknown link with just looking at it gives me shivers of joy, specifically nowadays the pentacle.

It seems we all have a fondness for ravens and crows. One of the reasons I like the summer months is because they tend to congregate outside my house.

A few others, just off the top of my head: Trees--they all seem to have personalities simply in their shape and manner of bark and leaves. The moon--sweet Luna that gives light to the darkness.

Actual ‘symbols’, in a pictoral context: The circle, specifically the Ouroboros--the simplest of all forms (the circle) representing the Infinite or Eternity (did I mention I also love the number 8?), also representing cycles or a wholeness (the Ouroboros) or a ‘one is all and all is one’ concept, such is the nature of things. I quite like stars of every sort (pentagrams, heptagrams, hexagrams, etc.). Why? I’m not sure. I also am very partial to the Ankh, and the cross. The Ankh, of course, being the Egyptian symbol of life, and the cross essentially meaning to me an intersection between the physical world (the horizontal bar) and the astral/spiritual/metaphysical world (the vertical bar).

Going with the theme of thread, I wanted to ask if anyone has any thoughts on symbolism of Owls?  I saw one physically and now i have been seeing them all over the place.  This is not just mind association, i already asked myself that.  I have my own feelings about it, but i think to know what others feel and intuit about them is important so if you have any thoughts, i would appreciate it. t

It’s funny that you should mention seeing a bunch of owls. For the past few months there have been about three or four (it varies) at fairly regular intervals outside my house at night. I haven’t seen any of them, but I can hear them conversing.

Hoot, hoot-hoot; hoot. . . Hoot, hoot-hoo-hoot. . . Hoot hoot; hoot-hoo

I also found a couple of things:

Yvsaph,
that must be something to hear, like your interpretation of their calls Smiley.  It is weird though, it was like i never saw an owl "close up" personally until now and then they were popping up all over the place.  The one i saw on the telephone pole was surreal; when i first saw it i did not know what it was, i saw the "horns" and rounded back.  it looked like a  black being the size of a crow crouched on all fours and then i saw it was an owl.
Wonder if this is spirit's way of saying to work with owl energy, keeping myself open to understand what it means.

I went to a camp once when I was little, and a trainer had a barn owl they had mended the wing of that they showed to all us kids. That was the only one I have ever seen up close. As I’ve said, I havn’t been able to see the ones outside, even at a distance.

Wonder if this is spirit's way of saying to work with owl energy, keeping myself open to understand what it means.

Judging by what I found, it could be a ‘sign’ (for lack of a better term) to look into shamanic practices, or perhaps Athena is sending you signals, or maybe owls just like you for some reason.

i've always been led to belive they are usually associated with hecate and the idea of inner wisdom and knowledge, hope this helps! Smiley

Thank you Ravensong and Yvsaph,  I think you hit the nail on the head with messages from the Goddess, that is what i was mulling around.  Athena is a strong symbol for me.
Ravensong, you have peaked my interest in Hecate; will investigate Her further.

I have always liked the triquetra which is used for the christian trinity and the three aspects of the goddess. I also see it as representing the body mind and spirit of a human. It reminds me that there is more to what we see than meets the eye and a whole is greater than the sum of its' parts. I recently got a tattoo with one in it that represents my majickal practice supporting my faith in my view of Christianity by a spiritual cord.

I haven’t heard of the triquetra reprresenting Body, Mind, and Spirit. That does seem incredibly obvious, though.

On a personal note, I saw a red-tailed hawk (I think) yesterday flying fairly low right across my line of sight. Wonder if that means anything. . .
