S1|EP30: Faith and Science

Even our memory of childhood is a pastiche of the real and the unreal; the factual and the imagined. The data that we select and the data that is ignored.

S1|EP30:

Faith and Science

Summary

In an infinite universe, is it possible that scientific investigation could one day demystify everything? Is magick becoming more popular because we humans need mystery, despite our relentless attempts to understand everything? What roles do faith and science play in our lives?

Is it possible to capture objective proof of psychic phenomena using scientific methods, or are there some phenomena in the world that resist being recorded? Even if we accept that the scientific method itself is capable of generating true and reproducible results, does the fact that we humans are always the ones interpreting or misinterpreting those results mean that we should approach scientific truths with as much skepticism as we approach mysticism and belief?

Thanks as always to Nox Arcana for providing dark soundscapes for our explorations of fringe culture and alternative spiritualities.

Originally aired April 3, 2008.
